AI SLOP

ree

I received a text from a relative this week saying she was unwell, and along with it a ‘kind’ offer from AI in the form of a response. All I had to do was click send!

As if I couldn’t form my own words to describe my sympathy! It must be the greatest insincerity from AI that I’ve experienced so far. This is what AI came up with:

'Hope the worst is behind you now [personal name used] and that you've suffered no damage. Still some waiting to go though. Sent from my iPhone.'

I mean, how well would it make you feel if you could detect it had come from AI, not the actual person’s mind and heart?

Besides which, ‘damage’ is not the appropriate word to use. ‘Injury’ relates to a person's body, not 'damage', as if they're a car. Or maybe in respect to health, 'serious illness' or 'lasting harm', depending on the problem they're facing.

Humans have developed language to serve the subtleties of human relationship.

Robots just don't get it!
